Sarah White is a gifted writer and coach who helped me tame the irascible storm of ideas in my head about how to write my memoir. Her criticisms were gentle but insightful. Her resources were helpful and inspiring. I couldn’t have written my story without Sarah.
I was born into a writing family.
My father was a freelance writer. My mother was a book editor. Is it any surprise I now help people write about their work and lives? My name is Sarah E. White. I am an editor, an author, and a writing partner. I draw on my own entrepreneurial experience and writing career to help your dreams of writing come true.
My story
In the 1980s and 1990s I directed my own marketing communication firm, White Space Design and Advertising. After the sale of that business I built a freelance practice providing marketing communications and how-to advice for small businesses. This experience led to invitations to write and publish several books for business leaders, and to write articles and online training for a broad range of audiences.
As my professional pursuits drew me in different directions, I sought a way to bring my many interests back under one umbrella. I discovered the field of personal history, and in 2006 I launched First Person Productions. Through this business I help people share their life stories, via memoir writing workshops and 1:1 coaching.
As a young sprout I earned my BA in journalism in 1980, and as a considerably more seasoned returning student, I completed an MFA in Creative Nonfiction in 2019. I am a lifelong learner.
Today I find myself drawn to the stories of “do-ers” –the people who start and lead enterprises, especially those with a clear social mission and a role to play in bending our cultural arc towards justice.
What is the story of your life and work?
I rely on Sarah for valuable support. She has helped me with multiple books and I continue to engage her to get my IP before my audiences. She is wicked smart, digests my ideas, and contributes to my success. That’s why I go back to her time and again.
